Mazda China sales climb 7.1% as competition escalates
Automotive News China | 2017/8/8

Mazda Motor Corp.'s China sales rose 7.1 percent year on year to 23,028 vehicles in July, a relatively sedate pace after double-digit sales growth for the previous four months.

The Japanese automaker blamed its slowing growth rate on intensifying market competition.

In February, the company launched its upgraded Mazda3 Axela compact sedan in China. From March through June, company sales grew more than 15 percent each month.

For the first seven months, Mazdas China sales totaled 158,568 vehicles, up 14 percent from the same period last year.

To maintain sales growth, the Japanese automaker will start importing the CX-3 subcompact crossover and MX-5 RF roadster to China this year.
