GM begins exporting Cavalier sedans to Mexico
Automotive News China | 2017/7/14

SHANGHAI -- General Motors this week started exporting 1,701 Chevrolet Cavalier compact sedans from Shanghai to Mexico.

Sales of the China-built sedan are to begin this year in Mexico, the company said.

The Cavalier is built by SAIC General Motors Corp. in the central China city of Wuhan. SAIC-GM is a 50-50 joint venture between the two automakers.

The car went on sale in September in China. To date, Cavalier sales in China have exceeded 100,000 vehicles, according to GM.

The Cavalier is the latest model that GM has exported from China. In 2016, GM started shipping the Buick Envision crossover from China to the United States.

For years, GM has exported the China-built Sail subcompact car and Chevrolet microvans to emerging markets in South America and North Africa.
