China exports jump in April as Russia, Brazil economies recover
Automotive News China | 2017/5/19

Exports of cars and trucks from China jumped 26 percent year on year to 67,000 vehicles as emerging markets began to recover from recessions.

April marked the ninth straight month of export growth, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said.

Exporters enjoyed growing demand in emerging markets such as Russia and Brazil.

In April, China's passenger vehicle exports soared 38 percent to 46,000 vehicles, while shipments of commercial vehicles rose 6.4 percent to more than 21,000 vehicles.

For the period, exports of Great Wall Motor Co., China's largest maker of crossovers and SUVs, shot up 119 percent to 4,116 vehicles.

Jianghuai Automobile Co., a light vehicle manufacturer, shipped 6,907 vehicles overseas, an increase of 59 percent from a year earlier.

Geely Automobile Holdings is the only Chinese automaker that has posted a decline in exports in April. The company's exports plunged 72 percent to 648 vehicles.

Through April, China's vehicle exports rose 29 percent from a year earlier to 245,000 vehicles. That figure includes 173,000 passenger vehicles and 72,000 commercial vehicles.
