Ford April sales rise 11% on demand for trucks, Lincoln cars
Automotive News China | 2017/5/9

Ford Motor Co.'s China deliveries staged a strong rebound in April after a steep decline in the first quarter, with volume advancing 11 percent year on year to 93,967.

The automaker received a lift from strong sales at its commercial vehicle joint venture, Jiangling Motor Corp., and the Lincoln luxury brand.

In April, Jiangling's sales jumped 15 percent to 25,404 vehicles. Jiangling builds the Ford Transit van, Tourneo multipurpose vehicle and Everest SUV as well as JMC-badged light trucks and SUVs.

At Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ford's passenger vehicle partnership, April deliveries rose 6 percent to 62,382 vehicles.

Sales of imported Ford models also surged 21 percent to 1,648.

Lincoln continued its growth spurt - even though none of its models are built in China. Last month, the luxury brand's sales soared 95 percent to 4,533 vehicles.

Due to weak volumes in the first quarter, Ford's China sales are still down for the year to date. In the first four months, deliveries declined 12 percent year on year to 349,228 vehicles.
